Biography

I am a researcher in bacteriology with professional responsibility for plant pathogenic bacteria.
My work mainly focuses on the diagnosis, identification, and surveillance of bacterial diseases in Norwegian forestry, agriculture, and horticulture, including quarantine pests, using a combination of classical and molecular approaches.
In addition, I contribute to international scientific activities through my membership in the EPPO Panel on Diagnostics in Bacteriology.

Beyond diagnostics and surveillance, my research interests include:

  • Diversity, adaptation, and plant interactions of pathogenic and non-pathogenic plant-associated bacteria

  • Processes influencing bacterial spread and persistence in natural and agricultural environments

  • Genomic and microbiome-based approaches to study bacterial–plant interactions and environmental responses

  • Bacteria associated with marine and algal environments, with a focus on their ecological roles and interactions
