ROADSOIL - Assessment methodologies and mitigation measures for the impacts of road projects on soils
Projects
NIBIO is a project driven research institute and collects approximately 100 million NOK annually in project funding from both national and international sources. A lot of activity is carried out through EU and EEA-projects and we also participate in research projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America. NIBIO coordinates several large international projects with a particular focus on food security and climate change. The list of projects is not complete.

EPIC ROADS - Ecology in Practice: improving infrastructure habitats along roads
Habitats related to Transport Infrastructures (HTI) may reduce negative impacts on biodiversity and improve landscape connectivity, given their proper design and construction. Here the transportation sector can contribute to halt the loss of biodiversity and secure ecosystem services in Europe through planning, construction and management based on ecological knowledge.
ECONADA: ECOlogically sustainable implementation of the ‘NAture Diversity Act’ (Naturmangfoldloven) for restoration of disturbed landscapes in Norway
Ifølge internasjonale konvensjoner er spredning av fremmed frø etter naturinngrep en viktig trussel mot biodiversitet og miljø. Bruk av frø til økologisk restaurering i samsvar med Naturmangfoldloven forutsetter (a) kunnskap om hva som er 'stedegne' hva som er 'fremmede' arter og økotyper, (b) optimale lokalisering og gode metoder for produksjon av stedegent frø, (c) kunnskap om nøkkelfaktorer for etablering av nytt plantedekke fra stedegent frø under vanskelige forhold, og (d) og kunnskap om virkningen av frøsåing på langsiktig vegetasjonsutvikling. Helkjedeprosjektet ECONADA møter disse utfordringene gjennom fem delprosjekt.
