NIBIO is a project driven research institute and collects approximately 400 million NOK annually in project funding from both national and international sources. A lot of activity is carried out through EU and EEA-projects and we also participate in research projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America. NIBIO coordinates several large international projects with a particular focus on food security and climate change. The list of projects is not complete.

In Enhanced Life-Cycle-Costing in wood construction by novel methods for service life planning (WoodLCC), researches will enable robust and precise Life-Cycle-Costing (LCC) based on input from novel models for detailed service life performance specification for wooden components and buildings.

Barkbuild - Tree bark as a renewable source of wood protection materials for building applications
BarkBuild is a European project under the umbrella of ForestValue ERA-NET programme. The purpose of the project is to develop new wood protection and building materials based on industrially available tree bark waste.

FORGENRES: Management of forest genetic resources under climate change
Current forest tree gene resource management, with concurrent selective breeding and geneconservation, are long-term endeavors. Hundreds of parents and thousands of offspring are being tested on multiple locations, requiring substantial resources, elaborate logistics, and sustained organizational commitment.
